Does anyone know of what Medicare Hospice will pay for my MIL while she is in a NH, pending her Medicaid application?
Does Medicare have a master list of some sort on their website, so I know it's legit? I could not find anything.
Social worker for Hospice told us if we decided to move her out of NH, to a house, they would loan a bed, etc. Do they loan a bed in the NH?
So unprepared for all this, and it's been almost a year since all this began.

You can ask Hospice how this works but...
Hospice will bill for medications, nurse visits, doctor visits,
While on Hospice if the CNA from Hospice comes in and provides shower and other care the facility will not do the same. Medicare will be billed 1 time for those services.
The charge for the Facility Medicare will not cover nor will Hospice.
If the patient has to be transferred to a Hospice Inpatient Unit that would be covered by Medicare.
Any equipment that is needed Hospice will bill Medicare so if a particular hospital bed is needed Hospice will provide it and will bill Medicare, if a particular wheelchair is needed Hospice will bill Medicare.

Medicare hospice benefit will cover hospice provider services, hospice Chaplin, hospice ordered equipment (beds, specialized mattress, geri bathing chairs, geri day chairs), hospice ordered specialized nutrition. The equipment is ordered by hospice co & loaned to your MIL & MediCARE pays hospice. Equipment has to go back in theory as is a loan. Hospice group may actually come to get it post death or may have you as DPOA to sign off to dispose of responsibly.
My mom - on Medicaid- was in a NH then fell so went onto hospice. Medicare paid hospice directly & the medical director of hospice took over her care plan but in consultation of the MD medical director of the NH. Medicaid continued to pay NH directly for her R&B. Hospice did pick up the bed & pneumatic mattress but left the geri bathing chair which I assumed went into NH inventory

Medicare Hospice will NOT pay the R&B at the facility.
For R&B day rate that needs to be private pay or LTC insurance (this probably will need to be augmented with pp$), or by Medicaid.
BUT IF they actually are eligible medically to go into a freestanding in-unit hospice, Medicare can pay for care & also room & board for that type of place. My Mil had this. She was in a NH & Medicaid Pending. Got super ill & hospitalized. She became very septic & cascading organ failure, on black box drugs. Moved out of hospital to a freestanding hospice adjacent to the hospital. Died in abt 3 weeks. Medicare paid for it as it was an extension related to her hospital stay. It was speciality care needed. Having this imo kinda very uncommon. If I’m not mistaken this type of stay is time limited, maybe 21/28 days.
